Will Conant - Lab-01, LLC

I have been a long time client of Lab-01 and per Will Conant's strong recomendation and promises of long term support I have converted all sites to their proprietary perl applications server, Tmojo. As such, I am qualified to comment on the Tmojo applications server and the support supplied by Lab-01, LLC. Following is my honest opinion of them.

On the plus side, Will's rates are reasonable and he is a very fast programmer. I have not worked with a better web applications developer. Overall development costs for a complete site overhaul was less than I anticipated, even with the conversion from HTML::Mason to Tmojo. Support has been reasonably fast, with only short delays between support requests and the finished product.

The primary drawback to Lab-01 is the use of their proprietary perl applications server, Tmojo. Although Tmojo is a very good applications server (it is fast and efficient), it is not widely used. If you agree to use Tmojo, as I have, you will find it nearly impossible to find another programmer who can support your programming needs. Conversion to Tmojo will lock you into support by Lab-01. Given their reasonable fees and rapid response this may not be a problem, but if anything should happen (such as Lab-01 obtaining a large, higher paying contract) you could find yourself facing the huge cost of converting your site to a more popular applications server, such as HTML::Mason.
